The overvoltage protection function of the load switch IC is for protecting the IC and circuit in subsequent stages by turning off the output when the input voltage exceeds the overvoltage protection threshold voltage. It is also called OVP (Over Voltage Protection) or OVLO (Over Voltage Lockout).
When the input voltage VIN rises and exceeds the overvoltage protection threshold VOLV-RI, the output voltage is turned off by turning off the MOSFET inside the load switch. After that, when the VIN falls and becomes VULV-FA or lower when the overvoltage protection threshold falls, the output automatically recovers and turns on. Since the threshold is hysteretic, chattering around the threshold (repeated ON/OFF operation) can be prevented.
